Service Update. The Engine Control Module (ECM) in certain vehicles may not properly clear the DTC U1962 (Unable to Authenticate Serial Data Message). If a communications fault were to occur, the DTC will remain set with the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine Light) illuminated even if the condition resolves. Clearing the DTC with a service tool will not clear the permanent status of the DTC which could result in an emissions Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) test failure. Dealers are to reprogram the ECM.

Repeated filings are grouped only when make, bulletin number, publication date and complete summary agree. Original record numbers are retained. Older publications remain available, and an explicit later version is shown when established. Pre-1994 vehicle associations are separated from default results; an unspecified year does not mean all model years apply.
