Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P1EAB stored. Technician should not clear the Diagnostic Trouble Code. Technician will need to use Global Diagnostic System 2 to review Hybrid Powertrain Control Module 2 Freeze Frame / Failure Records for DTC P1EAB. If the maximum cell voltage is not greater than 4.58 V, check to see if the Battery Engine control Module has the latest Service Programming System calibration. 15338 - SERVICE UPDATE. THIS BULLETIN PROVIDES A SERVICE PROCEDURE TO REPROGRAM THE BATTERY ENERGY CONTROL MODULE (BECM) ON CERTAIN 2015 MODEL YEAR CHEVROLET SPARK EV VEHICLES. IN THESE VEHICLES, A SOFTWARE ANOMALY CAN CAUSE A REDUCTION IN ELECTRIC POWER FROM 120KW TO 50KW, WHICH CAN LIMIT THE VEHICLE’S DRIVING RANGE TO 6.5 MILES (10 KM) (HOWEVER ACTUAL RANGE MAY BE LESS), SET DTC P1EAB, AND CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO FAIL TO START AT THE NEXT KEY/POWER ON CYCLE.

Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes P1EAB, P1B33, P1B34, P1B35, P1B36, P1B37, P1B38, and or P1B39. If Service Information diagnostics lead to the replacement of the Battery Energy Control Module, technician should not replace the entire Powerpack or the Battery Energy Control Module. The Battery Energy Control Module should be Service Programming System programmed with the latest software available.
