14546 - CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. CERTAIN 2009-2010 MODEL YEAR CHEVROLET HHR VEHICLES MAY HAVE A PASSENGER AIR BAG IN-LINE JUMPER WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR WITH FRETTING CORROSION AT THE TERMINAL CONTACTS. FRETTING CORROSION COULD CAUSE AN INCREASE IN THE SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT LOOP RESISTANCE. THE VEHICLE’S SENSING AND DIAGNOSTIC MODULE MAY INTERPRET THIS INCREASE IN RESISTANCE AS A FAULT WHICH WILL ILLUMINATE THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE VEHICLE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND SET DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES B0019 AND/OR B0020. IF THIS CONDITION IS NOT CORRECTED AND THE RESISTANCE IN THE CONNECTOR REACHES A HIGH ENOUGH LEVEL, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH. DEALERS ARE TO REPLACE THE UNSEALED CONNECTOR WITH A SEALED CONNECTOR.

THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AIR BAG WILL NOT FUNCTION AS DESIGNED DUE TO AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR NOT BEING PROPERLY ENGAGED. THIS CONDITION MAY SET DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) B0020 – PASSENGER FRONTAL DEPLOYMENT LOOP STAGE 2 RESISTANCE ABOVE THRESHOLD. 13364 - Service Update. Replace the passenger side front air bag. These vehicles may have a condition in which the passenger side front air bag will not function as designed due to an electrical connector not being properly engaged. This condition may set diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B0020 ? Passenger Frontal Deployment Loop Stage 2 Resistance Above Threshold. If this occurs, the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) will request the instrument cluster to illuminate the air bag malfunction indicator lamp. If a crash event occurs the SDM will attempt air bag deployment, but, if the mating terminals do not make contact, the secondary stage of the passenger side front air bag will not deploy, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.
