Flash: PTU Motor Position Enhancements This bulletin involves updating the software in the Power Transfer Unit (PTU), Rear Driveline Module (RDM) and Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM). A customer with a KL vehicle may experience difficulty shifting out of 4 Wheel Low (4WL). A customer with a UF vehicle may experience All Wheel Drive (AWD) not operating correctly. On further inspection the Technician may find one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs): ? C1494-92-PTU Fork Position - Performance or Incorrect Operation. ? Power Transfer Unit Prior to replacing the PTU, please review the following;~ Is the DTC C1494-92 PTU Fork Position Performance or Incorrect Operation active or stored?~ If active (MIL stays on), replace the PTU.~ If stored only (MIL is intermittent), we would like to investigate this vehicle further. Please call Bruce Michel at cell (248) 260-8641, or Jian Zhu at cell (248) 379-1132. If neither answers with 15 minutes proceed with replacement.

If neither answers with 15 minutes then proceed with the repair. ~ If the service 4WD light lamp is on steady then replace the Power Transfer Unit.
