Some 2020 Mustang vehicles may exhibit a concern of being unable to crank the engine. This will be accompanied by a B1026 DTC and a message in the instrument cluster indicating a steering lock module fault. This may be due to a fault with the body control module (BCM) software. Reprogram the BCM to correct this condition. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 419-10. For claiming, use causal part 15604 and any applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

SSM 48651 - 2020 Mustang - No Start With Steering Lock Malfunction Message And Body Control Module (BCM) DTC B1026 Some 2020 Mustang vehicles may exhibit a no start with a Steering Lock Malfunction message on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1026 in the BCM. Prior to following workshop manual (WSM) diagnostics, disconnect the negative battery cable per WSM section 414-01, wait 10 seconds and reconnect. After battery reconnect, cycle the ignition key 3 times and retest for no start, steering lock malfunction message and DTC B1026 in the BCM.
