New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area. This bulletin provides the procedure to update the software logic of the Engine Control Module (ECM) system on some 2022-2024MY Carnival (KA4) vehicles produced from January 4, 2021 through November 6, 2023, which may exhibit an MIL "ON" with DTC P2118. The throttle body plate may freeze after a cold soak in very cold temperatures, possibly causing the vehicle to go into "limp-home" mode. Once the vehicle is warmed up, the throttle body performs normally.

Throttle Blade Icing Service Fix Customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation the technician may find that one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) have been set: ? P2072 - Electronic Throttle Control System - Ice Blockage. ? P2110 - Electronic Throttle Control - Forced Limited RPM. ? P2118 - Electronic Throttle Control Motor Current Performance - Bank 1. The customer may also comment on the following: ? The vehicle may not start (below freezing conditions - typically -7 °C (-20 °F)) This bulletin involves removing the PCV valve and hose to dry out, drying out the throttle body and installing an updated make-up air hose, air cleaner lid and changing the oil.

The affected vehicles may exhibit a MIL 'ON' with DTCs stored (P144100, P1A7795, P00B700, P211800, P040100, P023600, P029900, P2B6000) due to the engine oil becoming diluted with fuel and/or moisture caused by repeated short drive trips, in low outdoor temperature (32 degree F-) environments.
