Due to a PDC software logic error in the subject vehicle, the pre-charge resistor may become damaged if the vehicle is abnormally turned ‘OFF’ (e.g. turned ‘OFF’ while the gear selection is in ‘Neutral’). If the pre-charge resistor becomes damaged, the vehicle may not go into ‘READY’ mode. Customers may experience the illumination of the service warning light, and the vehicle may set DTC P1B7700.

The affected vehicles may exhibit traction motor noise, an inoperable A/C, and illuminated warning lights with DTCs P0A3C, P0AF0, P1B77 stored due to intermittent traction motor operation when the hybrid system powers ‘OFF’ during the engine clutch calibration procedure.

If the vehicle continues to operate in this condition, a loose connection could cause a no start condition or a Check Engine and Hybrid Warning Light On with either or both of these DTCs stored: DTC P1B77 High Voltage Battery Precharging Fault DTC P1990 Oil Pump Unit Input High Voltage Wiring Line Open This bulletin describes the procedure to inspect the PRA, High Voltage Cable, and main relays and replace them if necessary.

PITSTOP: Voltage Protection Device (VPD) DTCs P1BA7 and P1B77 - The Voltage Protection Device (VPD) (1) is mounted on top of the HV battery pack. If the HV battery overcharges, the battery cells/modules/case can swell. If swelling occurs, the VPD switch will turn ON, and the Battery Management System (BMS) will receive the VPD ?ON? signal and turn off the Power Relay Assembly (PRA) to prevent damage.
