Some 2015-2020 F-150 and 2017-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit a lack of heat or cooling from the cabin vents when the climate control settings are adjusted between hot and cold. This may be due to a stuck/binding temperature door within the climate control housing or binding/inoperative temperature door actuator. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1081:07 may be present in the front controls interface module (FCIM) or heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) module. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to remove the climate control housing and replace the temperature door cam(s), lubricate the temperature blend door bearing surface, and apply flock tape to actuator to seal out debris.

Some 2019-2020 Ranger vehicles built on or before 30-Jul-2020 may experience poor and/or no temperature change when the temperature is adjusted in the climate control system. There may also be a clicking/snapping noise from behind the instrument panel. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1082 and/or B1081 may also be retrieved from the front controls interface module (FCIM). This may be due to an issue with the blend door and its controls. To avoid repeat repairs, replace the air distribution housing/heater assembly (service base part# 18478). Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00. Do not replace the evaporator core for this condition. The WSM has been updated to reflect this change. For claiming use causal part 18478 and use applicable labor operations in Section 11 of the Service…

Some 2021 F-150 vehicles built on 06-Sep-2020 and through 24-Jan-2021 may experience the climate temperature control is inoperative or does not operate correctly. The vehicle may exhibit diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) B1081 and/or B1082 in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) module. This may be due to a software issue with the HVAC module. To correct the condition, update the HVAC module using the latest level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. If the condition persists, refer to Workshop Manual, Section 412-00 and continue with normal diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part number 19980 and applicable labor times from the Service Labor Times Standard (SLTS) Manual.

Some 2017-2018 F-Super Duty vehicles may exhibit incorrect air temperature from the heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) outlets with DTC B1081:07 in the front controls interface module (FCIM). This may be due to binding of the blend door in the HVAC housing or binding between the temperature door actuator and the cam to the temperature door. Replacement of temperature door actuator and cam driver is recommended if the blend door is not binding. Note that removal of the cam driver follower from the blend door shaft can result in damage.
