P115B | Low fuel level – forced engine shutdown |

DETECTION CONDITION
|
• The PCM compares the calculated engine torque based on the engine rotation fluctuation from the engine operating condition and on the CKP signal fluctuation. If these calculated engine torque difference is excessive when the fuel level signal from the instrument cluster is low, the PCM determines that the fuel level is low to the engine stall level.
|

• No fuel in tank
• Fuel sender gauge unit malfunction
• Instrument cluster malfunction
• PCM malfunction

• Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?

Yes

Go to the next step.

Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
• Verify related service repair information availability.
• Is any related repair information available?

Yes
|
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

IDENTIFY TRIGGER DTC FOR FREEZE FRAME DATA
• Is P115B on FREEZE FRAME DATA?

Yes
|
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
IDENTIFY FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTION OR LOW FUEL LEVEL
• Refill the fuel.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Start the engine and warm-up to normal operating temperature.
• Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
• Is the PENDING CODE same DTC present?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
If the DTC or PENDING CODE is displayed, go to the applicable DTC inspection.
If the no DTC is displayed, troubleshooting is completed.

INSPECT FUEL GAUGE
• Inspect the fuel gauge by setting it to check code 23 of the input/output check mode.
• Is the fuel gauge okay?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Repair or replace malfunctioning part according to inspection results, then go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT DTC P115B TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Start the engine and warm-up to normal operating temperature.
• Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
• Is the PENDING CODE same DTC present?

Yes
|
Replace PCM, then go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform “After Repair Procedure”.
• Is there any DTC present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
