• Fuel run dry strategy triggered
• Faults for checks in PCV controlled mode – Minimum rail pressure exceeded

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Fuel empty
• Fuel supply pump malfunction
• Fuel pressure sensor characteristic malfunction
• Fuel metering control valve or related circuit malfunction
• Fuel limiter malfunction
• Fuel leakage from fuel system
• Fuel leakage from fuel injector
• PCM malfunction

• Verify related service repair information availability.
• Is any related repair information available?

If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.

IDENTIFY TRIGGER DTC FOR FREEZE FRAME DATA
• Is DTC P1180 on FREEZE FRAME DATA?.

Yes
|
Go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the troubleshooting procedures for the DTC in FREEZE FRAME DATA.

VERIFY FUEL LEVEL
• Verify the fuel level.
• Is the fuel level empty?
|
Yes
|
Refill the fuel, then go to Step 9.
|

No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FUEL LINE
• Turn the engine switch off.
• Inspect for leakage or clogging in the following fuel lines for each cylinder;.
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Repair or replace the suspected fuel line, then go to Step 9.

No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FUEL METERING CONTROL VALVE
• Inspect the fuel metering control valve.
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Replace the fuel supply pump, then go to Step 9.

INSPECT FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR
• Inspect the fuel pressure sensor.
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes

Replace the common rail, then go to Step 9.

INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR
• Inspect the fuel injector.
• Is there any malfunction?

Yes
|
Replace the fuel injector, then go to the next step.

Inspect the following:
• Fuel supply pump
• Fuel pressure limiter
If malfunction is appeared, replace the suspected part.
Then go to the next step.
If it is normal, go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT DTC P1180 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Start the engine and warm-up to normal operating temperature.
• Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
• Retrieve the DTC using the M-MDS.
• Is the PENDING CODE for this DTC present?

Yes

Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform the after repair procedure.
• Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
