DETECTION CONDITION

• Faults for checks in PCV controlled mode – Maximum rail pressure exceeded
|
POSSIBLE CAUSE
|
• Fuel metering control valve malfunction.
• Fuel pressure sensor characteristic malfunction
• Fuel pressure limiter malfunction
• Fuel injector clogged
• Fuel return line clogged
• PCM malfunction

• Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
• Verify related service repair information availability.
• Is any related repair information available?

Yes

Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.

IDENTIFY TRIGGER DTC FOR FREEZE FRAME DATA
• Is DTC P1181 on FREEZE FRAME DATA?.

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the troubleshooting procedures for the DTC in FREEZE FRAME DATA.

INSPECT FUEL RETURN LINE FOR CLOGGING
• Inspect the fuel return line between fuel injector and fuel tank.
• Is there any fuel clogging in return line?.

Yes
|
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part, then go to Step 8.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FUEL METERING CONTROL VALVE
• Inspect the fuel metering control valve.
• Is there any malfunction?
|
Yes
|
Replace the fuel supply pump, then go to Step 8.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR
• Inspect fuel pressure sensor.
• Is there any malfunction?
|
Yes
|
Replace the common rail, then go to Step 8.
|
No
|
Go to next step.

INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR
• Inspect the fuel injector.
• Is there any malfunction?
|
Yes
|
Replace the fuel injector, then go to the next step.

No
|
Inspect the following:
• Fuel supply pump
• Fuel pressure limiter
If malfunction is appeared, replace the suspected part.
Then go to the next step.
If it is normal, go to the next step.

VERIFY THAT DTC P1181 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Start the engine and warm-up to normal operating temperature.
• Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
• Retrieve the DTC using the M-MDS.
• Is the PENDING CODE for this DTC present?

Yes
|
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform the after repair procedure.
• Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
