Mazda Factory OBD-II DTC U0416 Code Diagnostic Procedure

Mazda U0416 Invalid data received from DSC CM
DETECTION CONDITION
•  PCM received implausible torque request from DSC CM.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  DSC CM does not determine vehicle condition correctly.
―  DSC CM malfunction
―  DSC related sensor malfunction
•  Communication error between PCM and DSC CM

Diagnostic procedure

STEP INSPECTION ACTION
1
VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•  Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related service repair information availability.
•  Is any related repair information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY CURRENT SIGNAL STATUS: IS CONCERN INTERMITTENT OR CONSTANT
•  Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2.
•  Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
•  Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Intermittent concern exists.
Perform the “INTERMITTENT CONCERN TROUBLESHOOTING”.

RETRIEVE DSC CM DTC
•  Retrieve the DSC CM DTC sing the M-MDS.
•  Is there any DTC retrieved?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT STEERING POSITION SIGNAL
•  Access and monitor DSC PID SWA_POS.
•  Is the PID SWA_POS value normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Inspect the steering angle sensor and repair or replace if necessary.
Then go to Step 7.

INSPECT COMBINED SENSOR INSTALLATION
•  Inspect the combined sensor installation.
•  Is the combined sensor installed correctly?
Yes
Inspect the tire conditions.
Service if necessary.
Then go to the next step.
No
Install the combined sensor correctly, then go to the next step.
7
VERIFY THAT DTC U0416 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
8
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform the after repair procedure.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
DTC troubleshooting is completed.
