If the P0217 Cadillac code is present and there are no coolant leaks, start by servicing the coolant system and replacing the thermostat to resolve the problem.

P0217 Cadillac Description
The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the engine coolant temperature with the engine running. The P0217 Cadillac code is set when the temperature is higher than normal even and there is no heavy load to the engine.
