6.8L - MIL ILLUMINATED WITH VARIOUS DTCS - NO DRIVEABILITY SYMPTOMS - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 2/25/2016 ISSUE Some 2016 F-Super Duty 650/750 vehicles built on or before 2/25/2016 and equipped with a 6.8L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304,P0305, P0306, P0307, P0308, P0309 and/or P0310 present in the powertrain control module (PCM) memory with no other drivability symptom. SERVICE PROCEDURE 1. Using Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or equivalent scan tool, retrieve DTCs from the PCM. Is DTC P0300,P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, P0306, P0307, P0308, P0309 and/or P0310 present in PCM memory? a. Yes - proceed to Step 2 b. No - this article does not apply. Refer to Powertrain Control/Emission Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual for normal diagnostics. 2. Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 99.03 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com. 3. Perform misfire monitor neutral profile correction procedure from the IDS toolbox: Select Powertrain, Service Functions, Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction and follow screen prompts. 4. Clear DTCs from PCM memory.
