Some 2021-2024 Bronco vehicles may exhibit an illuminated red brake warning indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C0049:01 stored in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. This may be due to pin fitment at the brake fluid level sensor connector. To resolve this concern, replace the brake fluid reservoir and replace the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector C1052 with service pigtail wiring kit 3U2Z-14S411-BXAB. Some 2026 Explorer vehicles equipped with a 2.3L engine and built on 22-Dec-2025 and through 02-Feb-2026 may exhibit an illuminated anti-lock brake system (ABS) warning lamp or "Check Brake System" warning message with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C0049:01 and/or C0049:0A stored in the ABS module. This may be due to a pin fit concern at connector C124 located on the brake fluid reservoir.

Some 2021-2024 Bronco vehicles may exhibit an illuminated red brake warning indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) C0049:01 stored in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. Replace the brake fluid reservoir and the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector. Do not disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector, cut the connector 3-4 inches (75-100 mm) from the connector end and leave the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector attached to brake fluid reservoir. Include these parts in the same package when returning warranty replacement brake fluid reservoirs. The brake fluid reservoir with the electrical connector still connected should be packaged in the original box to protect it during shipping. Some 2024 Mustang vehicles built on or before 30-June-2023 may exhibit a Low Brake Fluid message displayed on the instrument panel cluster (IPC) without low brake fluid in the reservoir and DTC C0049:0A stored in the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. This may be due to the current software of the ABS module. To correct the condition, reprogram the ABS module using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) diagnostic scan tool. Customers may notice a low brake fluid and/or Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) warning indicator(s) illumination. Upon further investigation the technician may find that one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) have been set:C0031-1D - Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor - Circuit Current Out Of Range. C0031-2F - Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor - Signal Erratic. C0031-62 - Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor - Signal Compare Failure. C0049-7B - Brake Fluid - Low Fluid Level.
