What Is DLC (Data Link Connector)?

The standardized 16-pin OBD-II port used to connect diagnostic scan tools to the vehicle's computer system.

The DLC is typically located under the dashboard on the driver's side, within 12 inches of the center of the instrument panel. It provides power to the scan tool (pins 4 and 16) and enables bidirectional communication with various vehicle control modules. The standard was defined by SAE J1962.
