What Is MAF Sensor?

Mass Air Flow Sensor — measures intake air mass flow for engine load and fuel calculations.

Located between the air filter box and the throttle body, the MAF sensor uses a heated wire or film element. As air passes over it, the element cools in response to air mass flow. The ECM uses this signal to determine the correct fuel injection pulse width. A dirty or failing MAF sensor commonly triggers codes P0100-P0104.
