What Is MAF Sensor?

Mass Air Flow Sensor — measures the volume and density of air entering the engine to calculate the correct fuel-to-air ratio.

Located between the air filter box and the throttle body, the MAF sensor uses a heated wire or film element. As air passes over it, the element cools proportionally to the airflow volume. The ECM uses this signal to determine the correct fuel injection pulse width. A dirty or failing MAF sensor commonly triggers codes P0100-P0104.
